3. Polperro Winery – Winery Villas & Farmyard House
Images from Booking.com
⭐️ RATING: 4.5 Stars |📍 LOCATION: Red Hill | ✅ Check Rates & Availabilities
Secluded and unassuming, warm and cosy, are perfect descriptors for Polperro Winery.
Tucked into lush vineyards and surrounded by native Australian bushland, this place knows a thing or two about crafting a unique, and intimate, Aussie winery experience…the noisy kookaburras when I was staying here certainly added that true-blue Aussie charm.
Polperro Winery offers two options for accommodation. There are four onsite villas, offering the romantic couple a perfect cozy escape. Then there’s the farmhouse, which is perfect for groups and families.
– The Villas – For Couples
Polperro’s boutique villas are designed with romance in mind.
Each villa is modern, stylish and spacious, with fireplaces and private decks overlooking the vineyard.
Waking in the morning, wrapping myself in the soft robe, making breakfast from the hamper of local produce included with your stay, and sitting out on the deck overlooking the vineyards with my coffee and food, was truly divine.
It was almost as divine as the huge spa bath that’s located smack bang in the middle of the room between the king size bed and the small lounge area.
The villas are just a short stroll from Polperro’s tasting rooms and restaurant where they serve up exquisite meals prepared with local ingredients sourced from the area and their very own certified organic, bio-dynamic farm.
– The Farmhouse – For the Whole Crew
Polperro’s modern, three bedroom farmhouse, would be perfect for getting away with a group of your best wine-tasting buddies. Definitely some memorable, or maybe not so memorable, times could be had here with your crew.
This three bedroom farmhouse, with its distant ocean views, is a mixture of iconic 1950’s Australian nostalgia on the outside, and stylish, modern elegance once you set foot inside. In other words, it’s got spunk!
Set on the working vineyard, The Farmhouse has every modern convenience you’d want in a holiday house, i.e. fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms, dining room, lounge with TV, etc. It also has a huge outdoors area established within a European garden setting with a backdrop of pine forest…what a combo!
There’s an outdoor fire pit surrounded by comfy chairs to sit around in while downing one, or two (or eight to ten) bottles of wine, telling drunken stories long into the night!
And one mustn’t forget the big outdoor dining area complete with a modern outdoor kitchenette that includes a large BBQ.

4. Jackalope Winery
Images from Jackalope.com
⭐️ RATING: 5 Stars | 📍 LOCATION: Merricks North | ✅ Check Rates & Availabilities
Unique is an understatement when we’re talking about Mornington Peninsula’s Jackalope.
Before I talk about the accommodation, you need to know the whole Jackalope property, is like stepping into a fantasy novel inspired by a futuristic Lewis Carroll (author of Alice in Wonderland).
The winery was created around the mythology of a North American creature which was part jackrabbit, part antelope, hence the name Jackalope. In fact, you’ll be greeted by a large sculpture of this fantastical creature upon arrival.
THE ACCOMMODATION
When I think of the rooms at Jackalope, the words evocative and seductive come to mind!
Jackalope has five different suites to choose from and only accepts guests that are over the age of 12.
Each of the 44 rooms at this luxury winery accommodation boast sleek furnishings, moody lighting, and plush king-size beds.
Floor-to-ceiling windows provide sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards, and each suite includes a private terrace, rain showers and the option of a deep-soak Japanese bath.
INCLUSIONS, AMMENITIES & FEATURES
- Breakfast included in price
- 30m infinity pool looking over the vineyards with an infinity spa too
- A spa centre offering infrared sauna, massage and a range of other treatments
- Dine beneath the 10,000 globe chandelier in the hotel’s hatted restaurant, Doot Doot Doot
- Or enjoy a more casual meal and glass of wine at their winery restaurant, Rare Hare
- Sip on a cocktail at their opulent cockatil bar, Flaggerdoot
- And don’t forget to roam amongst the vines!
There’s a dark and moody elegance to Jackalope, which is both mesmerising and intoxicating! So even if their very expensive rooms are beyond your price range, you absolutely must visit for a drink and a wander.
It’s actually worth mentioning, that if their accommodation is beyond your price range, there is the option to purchase a day pass for indulging in their amenities.

5. Port Phillip Estate
Images from booking.com
⭐️ RATING: 4.5 Stars |📍 LOCATION: Red Hill | ✅ Check Rates and Availabilities
While Jackalope is like stepping into a fantasy novel, Port Phillip Estate is like stepping into a slick and modern piece of art.
It is in fact considered an architectural landmark here on the Mornington Peninsula. Port Phillip Estate is one sophisticated place to visit.
The monumental limestone walls greet you as you arrive, keeping what’s within a secret until you step foot inside!
This 22 acre (9 hectare) vineyard is home to six contemporary, luxury suites. Although in my honest opinion, while the rooms are comfy, and have spectacular views of the vineyard, they’re not quite as impressive as the previous Monrington Peninsula winery accommodations listed above.
INCLUSIONS, AMENITIES & FEATURES
- In room breakfast included
- Floor-to-ceiling windows with private terraces overlooking the vineyard and coastal views
- King size beds
- Deep bathtubs with robes to wrap yourself in afterwards
- The sixth and largest apartment offers two bedrooms, an expansive living room and a simple self-contained kitchen.
- A modern and sophisticated restaurant, with an outdoor wooden decking area offering magnificent views over the winery.
- And of course, tasting rooms to sample some of the wineries best including their pinot noir, chardonay and pinot gris.
In conclusion, Port Phillip Estate is modern, bold and sophisticated! A visit to their winery, if not their accommodation, is a must, it is truly first class and impressive.

6. Mantons Creek Estate
Images from booking.com
⭐️ RATING: 4 Stars |📍 LOCATION: Shoreham | ✅ Check Rates & Availabilities
Off the beaten track, Mantons Creek Winery is what I’d call a humble and cozy, secluded winery getaway spot. And, it’s quite a bit cheaper than most other winery accommodations on the Mornington Peninsula!
Surrounded by rolling vineyards and tucked away in the hinterland, Mantons Creek Winery is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the bigger Mornington Peninsula Vineyards, which attract most of the tourists.
Mantons is family owned and run, giving the winery and its accommodation that home-away-from-home vibe.
The winery has 4 suites, located above the cellar door and restaurant.
The Pinot and Muscat suites offer a king bed, ensuite and private balcony overlooking the vineyard below.
The accommodation is simple, spacious and comfortable.
OTHER AMENITIES
- Mantons Creek Estate restaurant, Quattro, offers up Italian style dining. Choose to dine a la carte, or immerse yourself in a five course chef’s choice menu.
- There’s a cellar door for tasting and purchasing the winery’s cool climate pinot noirs and chardonnays.
To sum up, Mantons Creek is a charming hideaway! It’s not a ‘bells and whistles’ type of place. It’s quiet, rustic, comfortable and laid back, which if you ask me, is sometimes just what you need to really switch off.

7. Eldridge Estate – Family & Friend’s Group Accommodation
⭐️ RATING: 4 Stars |📍 LOCATION: Red Hill | ✅ Check Rates & Availabilities
Eldridge estate is a small boutique winery with 8 acres of vineyards surrounded by lush, green rolling hills in the heart of Red Hill.
The winery’s accommodation is called Eldridge House and is actually the original farmhouse situated smack bang in the middle of the vineyard! The house is literally surrounded by grapevines, you can even see them from your bedroom window.
With its huge deck, designed for alfresco dining and vino sipping, and four bedrooms, Eldridge House is the perfect getaway for families or a group of friends wanting a vineyard escape.
The house is a winning mix of modern style meets country charm. It’s the type of homestead you’d expect to see in a House and Garden or Home Beautiful magazine.
INCLUSIONS, AMENITIES & FEATURES
- A fully equipped kitchen for whipping up a feast with local produce you’ll pick up while visiting nearby farm gates
- Cozy lounge with a wooden fireplace
- 2 bathrooms
- 4 bedrooms
- Huge alfresco deck and outdoor dining area with a front seat view of the vineyards
There is no restaurant at this winery, but make sure you head to their cellar door for some wine tasting and a gourmet plate. This is a small, family run winery, with limited seating, so bookings at the cellar are recommended.
I highly recommend Eldridge Homestead. It’s another winery location where you have that home-away-from-home feeling, except this home is surrounded by vineyards…which is pretty darn spectacular!
